Software Summary

The HealthInfoNet Clinical Portal gives participating providers the ability to securely look up and retrieve real-time patient medical record information in a view-only screen at the point of care, greatly improving patient safety and care coordination activities.

Software Updates

  • Revised the “Location” field header to “Source” in the “Encounter/Visit History” table within the Patient Summary View. Whereas the “Location” field previously implied where the patient’s encounter occurred (i.e., its physical location), the “Source” field now implies from where the patient’s encounter information was received by HealthInfoNet (i.e., the data-sharing entity).

    • For example, a patient’s encounter information may have a “Source” from either a healthcare provider (e.g., MaineHealth, Northern Light, etc.) or a healthcare payer (e.g., Aetna, UnitedHealthcare, WellCare, etc.) depending on how the data is received by HealthInfoNet.

  • Redefined the use of the “Service” field in the “Encounter/Visit History” table within the Patient Summary View. When the “Source” of the encounter information is from a healthcare payer, the “Service” field will capture the name of the healthcare provider (rather than the specific service area associated with the encounter when the “Source” is from a healthcare provider).

    • For example, if a patient’s encounter information has a “Source” of e.g., WellCare, the corresponding “Service” field may include the name of the where the encounter occurred (i.e., its physical location) e.g., Barron Center.

Additional Notes

More Information on HealthInfoNet's latest release

These updates come as a result of HealthInfoNet’s partnership with the Office of MaineCare Services (MaineCare) in support of their Medicare Advantage Dual-Eligible Special Needs Plan (D-SNP) data-sharing requirements. While HealthInfoNet continues to connect with long-term care (LTC) facilities throughout the state to receive Admission, Discharge, and Transfer (ADT) information on their D-SNP member populations, the D-SNPs themselves will be providing this information on behalf of their LTC networks to meet MaineCare’s program timelines.
