Software Summary	The HealthInfoNet Clinical Portal gives participating providers the ability to securely look up and retrieve real-time patient medical record information in a view-only screen at the point of care, greatly improving patient safety and care coordination activities.
Software Updates	Removed the “VA Record Search” tab from the view of patients’ electronic medical records within the Clinical Portal. The removal of the functionality is a decision made by HealthInfoNet to avoid end-user confusion and miscommunication while a plan to restore connectivity is pursued with the Veterans Health Information Exchange (VHIE).

More Information on HealthInfoNet's VHIE Connection

Dating back to October 2019, HealthInfoNet’s connection with VHIE has been down while the VA migrated to a new data-sharing system, making us unable to receive continuity of care documents from VHIE for veteran patients. At the same time, upcoming federal data-sharing rules and regulations may also impact the way in which HealthInfoNet interacts with VHIE to receive data for veteran patients.

For these reasons, HealthInfoNet has decided to delay our efforts to re-establish connectivity with the VHIE system. At this time, we are targeting completion of the necessary development activities to restore connectivity by mid-2021; however, impacts of the federal rules and regulations on our relationship with the VHIE system may further push out our timeline. In any event, we will provide our participants and their end-user communities with updates as we proceed.

Updates to HealthInfoNet's Documentation

Updated the Clinical Portal user guides to remove references to the “VA Record Search” functionality. Updated documentation can be found online at our Training Resources page: https://hinfonet.org/resources/training-materials/
Updated the “102: Clinical Portal Overview” HealthInfoNet Academy course to remove references to the “VA Record Search” functionality. The updated course can be found online in our HealthInfoNet Academy course collection: https://www.hinfonetacademy.org/collections
Updated the Data Coverage Report, available on the Clinical Portal login page, to remove references to available data from the “Veteran’s Administration.”
