The information provided in the reporting can be filtered by a number of criteria based on user selection.
Before Getting Started
Before diving in, use of this reporting dashboard requires clear understanding of a few foundational components that we leverage in our analytics and reporting. If you haven’t already, be sure to read through some precursory definitions and methodologies. Those areas that we think may be helpful to review specific to the understanding of this reporting dashboard include:
Dashboard Definitions
Not sure what you’re looking at? No problem! We’ve done the homework for you by detailing the definitions, use cases, and any other relevant notes about all charts and tables available in this dashboard.
📈 Point-to-Point Analysis
Demonstrates the distance travelled (in miles) to facilities by eligible members residing in the selected ZIP Code for Inpatient or Emergency Department encounters. The larger the circle around the rendering facility, the greater number of encounters had by eligible members at the location.
🔢 Point-to-Point Breakdown
Contains information on eligible members' distances travelled (in miles) to facilities for Inpatient or Emergency Department encounters based on their ZIP Code of residence.
Note: This dashboard will only be populated if users enter a ZIP Code into the defined filter.
Field | Definition |
---|---|
Rendering Facility | The facility where members residing in the selected ZIP Code visited for their Inpatient or Emergency Department encounter. |
Member Count | The count of members residing in the selected ZIP Code that visited the defined rendering facility for their Inpatient or Emergency Department encounter. |
Encounter Count | The count of encounters (Inpatient or Emergency Department) rendered by members residing in the selected ZIP Code. |
Average Distance (Miles) | The distance travelled (in miles) for members residing in the selected ZIP Code to the defined rendering facility for their Inpatient or Emergency Department encounter. |
Dashboard Filters
Want to tailor the dashboard to look at only a certain ZIP Code of residence or only a certain type of encounter? Easy. We’ve got plenty of stock filters for you to use to meet various cross-cutting use cases and needs.
🔍 Stock Filters
Stock filters are the drop-downs, sliders, and free-text fields located at the top of each reporting dashboard that allow users to slice and dice the data contents in diverse ways.
Filter | Definition | Notes |
---|---|---|
Encounter Type | The type of encounter setting (i.e., Inpatient or Emergency Department). | This filter only allows a single encounter setting to be selected at once, not all combined. |
ZIP Code | The ZIP Code identifying members' residence. |
🔍 Default Stock Filters
For each stock filter available, there must be a default value assigned in order to populate the reporting dashboards for users to work from. Those default values are defined below per stock filter.
Filter | Default Value | Interpretation |
---|---|---|
Encounter Type | Emergency Department | Retrieves only Emergency Department encounter information. |
ZIP Code | [Selected ZIP Code] | Retrieves only member information for the selected ZIP Code of residence. |

🔢 Table Linkage
By selecting a particular rendering facility in the dashboard's table, a tooltip will appear with a variety of information, including the ability to allow users to drill-down into the underlying member-detail utilization (see Member Utilization) for the selected attribute.
Use Case: As a user, I want to view all Inpatient encounters had by eligible members who reside in Bangor (by ZIP Code). To do so, I would first confirm that the Encounter Type filter is set to Inpatient and the ZIP Code filter is set to Bangor. Next, I would select the Rendering Facility in the Point-to-Point table and the “View corresponding member-level utilization” hyperlink from the tooltip. Doing so will automatically redirect my reporting to the Member Utilization dashboard, filter to just those specific encounter records.
