Member Profile

This reporting dashboard presents member-level demographic and eligibility information for all eligible MaineCare members who have had an encounter within the last 365 days. The information provided in the reporting can be filtered by a number of criteria based on user selection.

Before Getting Started

Before diving in, use of this reporting dashboard requires clear understanding of a few foundational components that we leverage in our analytics and reporting. If you haven’t already, be sure to read through some precursory definitions and methodologies. Data Sources & Refresh Frequency

HealthInfoNet’s reporting dashboards combine a number of data files sourced from HealthInfoNet’s Health Information Exchange (HIE) data warehouse and MaineCare’s eligibility and claims information. For each dashboard available, users should understand the primary data source(s) and refresh frequency to instill confidence in and inform use of the reporting within their workflows. Learn more…

Member Eligibility Inclusion Criteria

HealthInfoNet’s data use agreement with the Maine Department of Health and Human Services permits the Office of MaineCare Services to view information from the statewide HIE according to specific member eligibility inclusion criteria. To meet this criteria, HealthInfoNet receives a daily eligibility file from MaineCare that is used to refresh each reporting dashboard on a daily basis. Learn more…

Dashboard Definitions

Not sure what you’re looking at? No problem! We’ve done the homework for you by detailing the definitions, use cases, and any other relevant notes about all charts and tables available in this dashboard.

📈 Population with Encounters

Trends the unique number of eligible members with an encounter (in either the Inpatient or Emergency Department setting) by admission date over the last 365 days based on defined organizational attribution and other relevant filter selections. Color coding differentiates encounters with emergent (green) versus non-emergent (red) primary dx codes.

📈 County Distribution

Counts the total number of unique eligible members by their county of residence (per ZIP Code information supplied in MaineCare’s daily eligibility file). Color coding of counties correlate to the total number of members residing in the county, where the lighter the color the fewer the members.

📈 Sex Distribution

Counts the total number of unique eligible members by their reported sex. Members with unknown or null sex values provided in the data supplied to the HIE are excluded from this chart.

📈 Race Distribution

Counts the the total number of eligible members by their reported race. Race values are categorized into ‘AIAN’ (American Indian or Alaska Native), ‘Asian,’ ‘Black’ (Black or African American), ‘Multi’ (two or more races), ‘NHPI’ (Native Hawaiian or Pacific Islander) or ‘White’ groupings, with an additional ‘Unknown’ grouping for race values that do not map to the latter groupings.

📈 Ethnicity Distribution

Counts the the total number of eligible members by their reported ethnicity. Ethnicity values are categorized into ‘Hispanic’ or ‘Non-Hispanic’ groupings, with an additional ‘Unknown’ grouping for ethnicity values that do not map to the latter groupings.

📈 Age Distribution

Counts the the total number of eligible members by their reported age. Age group values are categorized into 5- or 10-year increments per standard definitions.

Contains demographic and eligibility information on each unique eligible member.

Definition

Medicaid ID

This field contains an ID that identifies a unique Medicaid member. Note: This is the ID referred more commonly by MaineCare as the 'A' number or the Member Secondary ID.

Member Name

This field contains the first and last names of the member.

Date of Birth (DOB)

This field contains the date of birth of the member. 

Sex

This field contains the sex of the member. 

Race

This field contains the race of the member. 

Ethnicity

This field contains the ethnicity of the member. 

Street Address

This field contains the city of residence of the member. 

City

This field contains the city of residence of the member. 

State

This field contains the state of residence of the member.

ZIP Code

This field identifies the 5-digit ZIP Code associated with the member's residence.

Telephone Number

This field contains the home telephone number of the member. 

PCP Name

This field contains the name of the member's attributed Primary Care Provider (PCP).

Primary Insurance Indicator

This field contains a code that identifies whether the member's primary insurance is MaineCare.

Valid values are:

  • Y = Primary Insurance

  • N = Secondary Insurance

  • Y,N = Both Primary and Secondary Insurance

Active Program

This field identifies whether the MaineCare member is an active ED Collaborative member.

Valid values are:

  • ED - ED Collaborative Member

  • GRAD - ED Collaborative Graduate

  • BHH - Behavioral Health Home Member

  • BHHGRAD - BHH Graduate

  • HH - Health Home Member

  • HHGRAD - HH Graduate

  • CCU - Case Coordination Unit

Term Date

This field contains the termination date for the member's MaineCare eligibility coverage. The field is formatted as 'MM/DD/YYYY HH:MM'.

Want to tailor the dashboards to look at only a certain member population or with certain conditions applied to encounter criteria? Easy. We’ve got plenty of embedded and stock filters for you to use to meet various cross-cutting use cases and needs.

🔍 Stock Filters

Stock filters are the drop-downs, sliders, and free-text fields located at the top of each reporting dashboard that allow users to slice and dice the data contents in diverse ways.

Medicaid ID

The ID that identifies a unique Medicaid member. Note: This is the ID referred more commonly by MaineCare as the 'A' number or the Member Secondary ID.

For each stock filter available, there must be a default value assigned in order to populate the reporting dashboards for users to work from. Those default values are defined below per stock filter.

📊 Embedded Filters

By selecting a particular data point in the dashboard’s charts, a tooltip will appear with a variety of information, including the ability to allow users to filter the contents of the current reporting dashboard based on the selected attribute.

Use Case: As a user, I only want to view the dashboard’s contents for only eligible members residing in Cumberland County. To do so, I would select the Cumberland County area in the County Distribution chart and the “Filter dashboard by selected attribute” hyperlink from the tooltip. Doing so will automatically adjust the remaining contents of the dashboard to reflect only members residing in Cumberland County.

🔢 Table Linkage

By selecting a particular member within the table, a tooltip will appear with a variety of information, including the ability to allow users to view additional information about the member, including their:

  1. Encounter/Utilization Information (see Member Utilization)

  2. Prescribed Medications Information (see Member Medication History)

  3. Address History Information (see Member Address History)

  4. Predicted Risk Information (see Member Predicted Risk)

  5. DRG History Information (see Member DRG History)

Use Case: As a user, I want to view the address history for a particular member who I haven’t been able to contact about their non-emergent utilization. To do so, I would select the member’s record in the table and the “View member’s address history” hyperlink from the tooltip. Doing so will automatically redirect my reporting to the Member Address History dashboard, filtered to just the selected member’s address history.
